A late afternoon walk from Crowcombe Park Gate to Dowsborough Hillfort.
On this occasion finding the remains of the ‘Scheduled Monument’ hillfort itself alluded me, perhaps on my next trip!
Dowsborough hillfort survives as a good example of its class. This site is unusual in that it retains the upstanding remains of an inturned entrance passage with guardhouses.

Trees around the barrow of the hillfort and a view down to the stream near where Holford Combe, Frog Combe and Lady’s Combe meet

Lichen on a tree in Lady’s Combe – it’s almost glowing!
